About Nutrition Research Review
An Independent Peer-Reviewed Journal — Est. 2022
Mission Statement
Nutrition Research Review is an independent peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the rigorous scientific evaluation of nutritional assessment methodologies, dietary tracking technologies, and clinical nutrition interventions. The journal was founded in 2022 with the explicit purpose of applying systematic review and meta-analytic methods to a field historically dominated by commercial claims and anecdotal evidence.
The journal's primary focus areas include: quantitative dietary assessment accuracy, mobile and digital dietary tracking technologies, micronutrient surveillance methodologies, and the translation of nutritional epidemiology into clinical practice. All submissions are subject to double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts in the relevant field.
Editorial Independence
Nutrition Research Review maintains complete editorial independence from commercial interests. The journal does not accept funding from dietary supplement manufacturers, food technology companies, or application developers. Funding for operational costs is provided entirely through institutional subscriptions and open-access publication fees paid by authors' institutions.
Editorial board members are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest on an annual basis and are recused from review decisions in cases where a conflict exists. The Editor-in-Chief has final authority over all publication decisions.
Peer Review Process
The journal employs a double-blind peer review process. Identifying information is removed from all manuscripts prior to external review. Each manuscript is evaluated by a minimum of two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the specific topic area.
Review criteria include: methodological rigor, statistical validity, appropriateness of controls, transparency of data and methods, and significance of findings to the field. Reviewers are asked to provide structured evaluations addressing each criterion, and authors are provided with detailed feedback regardless of editorial decision.
Median time from submission to first decision is 42 days. Accepted manuscripts are assigned a DOI and published online within 14 days of final acceptance.
Publication Scope
The journal accepts the following article types:
- Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses: Comprehensive syntheses of published evidence on defined research questions, conducted according to PRISMA guidelines.
- Original Research Articles: Reporting results of prospective studies, randomized controlled trials, or large-scale observational studies.
- Survey Research: Structured assessments of clinical practice, professional opinion, or consumer behavior.
- Review Articles: Expert narrative reviews of rapidly evolving topic areas, subject to full peer review.
- Brief Communications: Short reports of preliminary findings or methodological innovations.
Indexing and Abstracting
Nutrition Research Review is actively pursuing indexing in major scientific databases. The journal is currently listed in:
- Google Scholar (indexed since Volume 1)
